Checking in from America’s Finest City is once again Shawn Rude with that fire new slap “Pay Me”. The dope single features sharp spitter and SlapGods favorite Mike Sherm and also PT Mulah doing the dam thing.
The track was produced by ONIIMADETHIS. The song uses a bass we have all come to love as well as a simple piano arrangement and some trap and 808 type elements for mids and highs. The track by itself is a winner.
The hook will have the young ones both male and female going wild in the club. This track has today’s generation written all over it. The gods have a feeling this one is going to do some work in the bank for Shawn Rude and his ever growing Rude Mobb fan base.
San Diego, California- If you follow the Gods at all you know the team features a lot of San Diego music. That streak continues with “Lost In The Light”, the new single by up and coming rapper Shawn Rude. The Gods do not throw around the term “Up and Coming” a lot. To the Gods making vertical steps in the music game is not something that happens quick, so when someone is “Up and Coming” it means they are making a vertical leap in the game or “Leveling” or “Moving Up”. In order to really be “Moving Up”, you have to have some sort of verifiable growth in the business. Today’s rappers seem to think that just releasing music is verifiable growth or enough to get them to be “Up and Coming”. The reality is in today’s technology friendly world of home studios, artists can literally turn out music daily. This has lead to a flood of the worst music known to man. But, there is a silver lining to this problem, that is REAL up and coming artists can get music up and out and in the hands of their fans quick. Thus, if the artist actually makes good music they can “Level Up” with tangible results quick. Case in point is Shawn Rude. The YG from America’s Finest City aka San Diego, made a pledge to hmself when he got out of jail to make a real run at the music thing.
Since making the commitment to himself to do the thing the right way, he has been progressing up the West Coast rap scene. Shawn Rude did this by making quality music with well selected features to help him grow his fan base. Over the past year, the Skyline Hills resident, continually teamed up with Northern California artists. This targeting of an area helped Shawn grow his fan base in a specific area outside of his home base. The strategy has paid off. He has been steadily gaining new monthly listeners on his Spotify Channel, he also has seen his singles begin to get 1,000 not 100’s of unique spins a month. He is also been doing some decent numbers on Sound Cloud and Youtube posts that he was able to secure on sites like Thizzler. He was able to get on Thizzler, because of the fact he utilized a Northern Cali rapper on the project. See, one thing many artists fail to realize is that if you have digital distribution and you know how to do a few things you can get paid on all those free spins on Sound Cloud and Youtube. Even less people know that you dont have to upload the music or video to your personal Youtube or Sound Cloud to get paid, in fact it is better to target a blog or company with a huge following and give them the music and the codes and you can utilize their Fan base to both get paid and expand your following.
Shawn Rude once again utilized this very simple but effective game plan for his latest release “Lost In The Light”. The song features dope Sacramento rappers Mozzy and Celly Ru. If you arent familiar with these two rappers then make yourself. The track was produced by LEGIT Dago aka San Diego producer Nick Noxx. The track has a heavey synth or Lead running throughout as well as strings, keys to get the heads nodding. Mozzy leads the track off with his signature gangster talk on the hook.
“Lost In The Light Tell Em I made It Im Alright,
Fuck The Sucka Side We Drill It On Our Side,
Yellow Tape The Perimeter Everytime I Slide,
Yellow Tape The Perimeter Everytime I Slide”
Shawn Rude comes in first with his straight to the point bars talking about the things that landed the YG in jail for a three year stint. That time in jail is when he met some of his northern California connections and ultimately gave him the ability to utilize his game plan of targeting an area with features to help grow his career and fanbase. The homie Celly Ru comes in 2nd with his signature No Nonsense spit that has made him a household name everywhere on the West Coast.
Clearly Shawn Rude is not “Lost In The Light”, rather he is utilizing a unique game plan that other “Up and Coming” rappers should try and utilize rather than wasting money on shows and Jordans for videos, invest in the music and the feature and grow your career just like the Real “Up And Coming” rappers like Shawn Rude. You can write that one down and when he on Mozzy status just remember the Gods told ya First.
